Porn and spyware

When we start touring porn sites, we're definitely not immune to spyware, trojan horses, viruses and any other malware that's out there. In fact, we're more at risk than anyone else online.

I've had my fair share of these programs in my computer. One of them last year was so bad (CoolWebSearch) that it knocked me offline for nearly the entire month of August. I ended up having to reformat my computer and eventually I just bought a new one. In plain English, spyware trashed my computer.

When you get one, you very rarely get just that one. They love to bundle their programs. If you have one adware/spyware program on your computer that you KNOW of, you probably have a dozen more that you don't know about. And THAT is the dangerous part.

- Your computer could be a spam machine without your knowledge

- You could be the delivery source of child pornography without knowing it

- Your computer could be used to attack websites (Yahoo, MSN, Microsoft have been targets more than once by "zombie" computer) and take them offline

- You could have a keylogger that records every transaction you make online, every username and password you use, your bank account, credit card number(s), etc.

Did you know that if your computer isn't protected against spyware that you don't even have to click a link to get infected? Just opening a spam email could trigger the download without having to click anything. Just visiting a website can do the same thing. ALL WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE!

Summer is almost here. Do you have kids who'll be on the computer every waking hour for the next two months? Protect them, protect yourself and protect your computer! That's a VERY small investment to make when you consider the costs of having your computer fixed by a technical professional or like I had to do, buy a new computer because the old one is so fucked up it's become unusable. Investing $20 or $30 for a good spyware BLOCKER, not just remover, could save you many many headaches not to forget probably hundreds of dollars down the road.

The one I recommend most is X Cleaner. I paid $29.95 for that program last year, now you can get it for $19.95. This program is super, their support is the best (they're the ones who helped me the most with spyware problems before I bought their product) and it will block spyware from downloading on your computer. If you just remove it, it means that it's already there, so it could be too late to stop the bad stuff from happening. But if you BLOCK it from being downloaded, now you're PROTECTING yourself!

The other one I also recommend is Pest Patrol. I have that one too. Frankly, it doesn't hurt to have more than one because what one may not catch, hopefully the other one will. I have a total of FIVE spyware blockers on my computer! I probably visit more porn sites in a month than most of you do in a year, so I have to be prepared for the "consequences".

Unfortunately there isn't a program in the world that will catch 100% of spyware. These crappy malware programs surface faster than solutions can be found. Both of the above programs will block spyware from getting into your computer, not just remove it.

Be safe online, and happy surfing!
